Medications, Physician
Evaluations
At ACT, our Medication Assistance
Program provides two important services. First, we work closely
with our physicians to meet the needs of individuals who may benefit
from psychiatric medications. Second, we have made access to these
medications affordable by providing free or low-cost medications to people
who are living on limited incomes and who meet financial guidelines.
Our physicians believe in the use of the newest medications for the
treatment of mental and behavioral disorders. Medications can and
do make a significant difference, together with counseling/treatment,
in relieving symptoms and suffering. Close attention is given to
finding the right medication to help relieve those symptoms.
Recognizing that the cost of these medications can seem unaffordable,
we make access a priority. In addition to funding from the Oklahoma
Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, we work with the pharmaceutical
companies which provide medications to those who qualify at no cost.
These medications – combined with other treatment elements such as
counseling, case management, and pharmacological management – help
support successful treatment by helping hundreds of individuals each year
return to normal, productive lives in our community, living at home with
family members, and continuing their work and education. |
