In-School Services
In March, 2005, a program called Positive Behavioral Supports was launched
in an effort to reduce dropout and suspension rates in the Tulsa area
public school systems.
It is now underway in several Tulsa public schools and is in planning
stages for school systems in the nearby communities of Bixby and Sand
Springs.
PBS brings intense and focused services to young people at high risk
of dropout, suspension, and numerous other accompanying emotional problems
that can lead to serious behavioral and potential justice system complications.
Depending on the student’s needs, services may begin with a behavior
coach working with the student and teachers to help prevent further problems
and identify strengths.
The next level of intervention involves individual and group therapy
at school.
If the student is considered at risk of imminent suspension or dropout,
teams from Wraparound Tulsa step in to focus on the family at home, in
an effort to bring stability to a high risk situation. |
