Wraparound Tulsa
Wraparound Tulsa collaborates with many community resources to “wrap” services
and specialists around children and families in need. The collaboration
encompasses physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs, with
an emphasis on identifying and building upon the child and family’s
existing strengths.
The goal is to help the child and family become independent within the
community, at school, at home and in social interactions. Since
Wraparound’s initiation in 2001, ACT has served as the host agency
for this community-wide program.
Each family entering the Wraparound program works with an advocate who
provides 24-hour crisis management, helps arrange additional social services
and is their voice at “official” events such as hearings
or court appearances.
Additionally, each family works with a care coordinator who evaluates
strengths and needs and assembles a family support team that meets regularly
to brainstorm solutions.
Periodic workshops are available to train parents in various skills. Included
are:
Behavioral Crisis Management – focus on techniques to de-escalate
crisis and develop skills to prevent crises.
Hope for Tomorrow – introduction to mental health, eating disorders,
and addictive disorders including alcohol and substance abuse.
Love and Logic Parenting – raising kids who are confident, responsible
and aware of how to solve their own problems. Parents learn how
to establish healthy controls.
Visions for Tomorrow – covers 17 emotional problems such
as depression, bipolar, anxiety, eating disorders. Helps in developing
coping skills and learning to live better with other related issues.
